Mallikarjun Kharge: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge collapsed while speaking at an election rally in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. The 83-year-old leader became dizzy while speaking at the rally but didn’t stop delivering his message. Leaders on stage rushed to support Kharge, but he reassured the gathering by emphasizing that he was committed to the party’s cause.
Critique of BJP’s Election Delays
Showing his determination, when he addressed the gathering of people, Kharge said, “I am 83 years old, I am not going to die so early. I will stay alive till PM Modi is removed from power.” The crowd applauded his resolve and reassured all of their dedicated fight to have Jammu and Kashmir restored as its state and accountability sought from the government.
While addressing the meeting, Kharge hit out sharply at the Bharatiya Janata Party and the central government over the delay in elections in Jammu and Kashmir. In his speech, he said that the government had no intention of holding elections and only began the preparation after the Supreme Court ordered them. He again accused the BJP of wanting to run a “remote-controlled government” over Jammu and Kashmir through the Lieutenant Governor without allowing normal democratic processes to take their own course.
Kharge’s Challenge to PM Modi’s Leadership
Kharge also attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming the country’s youth were denied the opportunities that they rightly deserved through the Narendra Modi regime’s 10-year rule. Asking people to ask BJPs: “Did you deliver what you have promised? asked Kharge. He also said that policies of BJP have not raised the ambitions of the country’s youth. It has left promises and hopes crushed.
It was, in fact, a show of indomitable will, as he has been going around and campaigning for the Congress Party, demanding change and throwing a challenge at the BJP’s leadership in this region. His message was all out: the battle of justice and democratic values in Jammu and Kashmir is yet far from over.
