The exchange quickly became a major talking point
The exchange quickly became a major talking point, with the BJP criticising the Congress chief over his choice of words. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also criticised Kharge, accusing him of crossing the limits of public decorum in his remarks about the Prime Minister.
Following the exchange, Kharge continued his speech and targeted Prime Minister Modi over the issue of black money. He questioned the government’s earlier promise to bring back black money held abroad and asked what had happened to the commitment to recover it within the first 100 days.
“PM Modi has a habit of telling lies. He had said that he would bring back black money in his first 100 days. I want to ask, where is that money?” Kharge said during his address.
The Congress president also criticised the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), alleging that its ideology stood in the way of peace and communal harmony. He further accused the BJP and RSS of holding views that were inconsistent with constitutional principles and social equality.
