Manish Sisodia arrested: Delhi CM Kejriwal says CBI officers were against his arrest – ‘they had to obey their political masters’

Manish Sisodia arrested: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal in a tweet on Monday said that he has been told many Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers were against the arrest of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. He claimed that the CBI officials were under political pressure.

Manish Sisodia was arrested on Sunday evening by the central probing agency after being grilled for 8 hours in a Liquor police scam case. He arrived for second round of questioning today morning. The Delhi Dy CM will be produced before court today at 2 pm. The CBI will push the court for extending his custody.

Arvind Kejriwal claims CBI officers ‘have huge respect for him’

Taking to Twitter to on Monday, Arvind Kejriwal claimed, “I am told that most CBI officers were against Manish’s arrest. All of them have huge respect for him and there is no evidence against him. But the political pressure to arrest him was so high that they had to obey their political masters.”

Manish Sisodia and other AAP leaders had sensed that his arrest was inevitable. Ahed of questioning, Manish Sisodia had held a road show in which he had asked people to take care of his family. He had said that his wife, who is sick, will be alone at home. The DY CM also asked Delhi’s children to study meticulously.

Sisodia is a staunch critic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He had said that Centre is lodging fake cases against AAP as PM Modi is afraid of Arvind Kejriwal’s rising popularity.
