MCD Elections: The “10 assurances” of Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were released today in advance of the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections on December 4. Vote for those who will govern Delhi, not those who will slow down its development, said the Chief Minister.

- Beautifying Delhi, according to Mr. Kejriwal, was the first assurance. “The amount of trash, dirt, and sewers is horrible. There won’t be any additional landfills in Delhi. Garbage disposal is simple and will be done by us,” said he.
- The leader of AAP pledged to spruce up Delhi’s streets and highways as well as all of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s schools and hospitals (MCD).
- Mr. Kejriwal promised a “corruption-free MCD” and pledged to streamline and increase transparency in the approval process for building designs.
- According to Mr. Kejriwal, “We will have a scheme for regularising minor violations at a fee, so people are not blackmailed.”
- He also promised to rid the city’s capital of stray dogs, cows, and monkeys, as well as “once and for all” find a solution to the parking issue.
- In addition, Mr. Kejriwal pledged to make Delhi a “city of parks,” confirm all temporary civic workers and pay wages on time, abolish the “Inspector Raj” or strict licencing system, and revive shuttered businesses.
- “I want to tell traders, trust your brother,” Mr. Kejriwal added. He added that AAP will guarantee that sellers were in the right zones to prevent harassment.

- Additionally, Mr. Kejriwal provided his forecast for the MCD poll. “This time, the BJP will win less than 20 seats,” he said.
- On December 7, the results will be made public. The MCD has been governed by the BJP for fifteen years. The BJP increased its representation from the 2012 election, winning 181 seats in the 250-seat civic body in the 2017 elections (138).
- The Congress was replaced as the second-largest party in the MCD by the AAP, which ran in the 2017 civic elections for the first time and gained 49 seats replacing the Congress’ 31 seats.
