Rajasthan: A MiG-21 fighter jet from the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed on Monday in Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, killing three personnel. The fighter jet crashed earlier in the day while conducting a routine training sortie. According to the IAF, the pilot was injured but managed to flee the scene unharmed. An investigation has been started to determine what caused the accident.
The MiG-21 aircraft took off from Suratgarh
Debris from the downed jet fell on the three people, killing them. Bantobai, Bansobai, and Leela Devi were named as the three of them. The MiG-21 aircraft took off from Suratgarh, according to IAF sources.

The deceased person’s family criticised the district government
‘During a normal training sortie this morning, an IAF MiG-21 crashed close to Suratgarh. The pilot safely ejected, suffering only minor wounds. To determine the accident’s cause, an investigation has been launched,’ according to the IAF. The deceased person’s family criticised the district government and sought a formal statement detailing the compensation they will get. By 2025, the IAF intends to phase out all remaining squadrons of MiG-21s. The No. 51 squadron, stationed in Srinagar, was number plated last year, which, in IAF lingo, denotes the squadron’s retirement from active duty. This squadron was led by Group Captain Abhinandan Varthaman, who shot down enemy aircraft in the wake of the Balakot attacks in 2019.
