Anil Chauhan: At the Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC) in Bhopal on April 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed the Indian military commanders to push for integration and operational synergy. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen. Anil Chauhan has chosen to personally convey the PM’s message as part of the impending major military transformative changes.
Anil Chauhan visited the Western Naval Command
Gen. Anil Chauhan visited the Western Naval Command and the Mazagon Dockyards Limited (MDL) the previous two days before arriving at the Southern Army Command headquarters in Pune today to convey the PM’s direction and push for military theatre commands. It is acknowledged that Gen. Chauhan’s duty of integration and jointmanship is still being worked on by the three armed services, and that theatre command and joint operations would be finished in the following two years.

Gen. Chauhan reviewed military readiness in the crucial Siliguri corridor and at the Hashimara air base, which houses the most recent French Rafale jets, in the first week of April after receiving instructions from PM Modi. He also paid visits to the Eastern Army Command in Kolkata and the Central Army Command in Lucknow. In order to make it obvious that military theatre commands are an irreversible step on the path of military modernization, Gen. Chauhan would reportedly visit all 18 military commands in the nation.
PM Modi delivered a strong message in favour of unity
While discussions at the CCC in Bhopal took place behind closed doors, PM Modi delivered a strong message in favour of unity amongst the three services to prevent overlap in warfighting, logistics, and the acquisition of weaponry. The PM stated that despite being ready for the worst-case scenario on Indian borders, the armed services should contribute to national development in times of peace. It is known that PM Modi instructed the military to avoid wasting money by providing separate mess halls and recreational facilities for soldiers and agnives. The development of military theatre commands and the growth of India’s military-civilian industrial complex through “Atamanirbhar Bharat” was another key theme.
