To curb the increasing crime in Noida, the police have started night patrolling and at the same time, curbs have also been started on those who drink alcohol in the open and in public places. In the city, people are found drinking alcohol in public places. Especially the number of such people increases further in the evening. Therefore, on Tuesday night, the Gautam Budh Nagar police, patrolling in different police station areas, caught 226 persons drinking in the open and took action against them.
DCP / ADCP of all zones launched the campaign
Police launched a special campaign last night in all the police station areas of Gautam Budh Nagar against persons consuming liquor in public places. Last night, under the leadership of DCP/ADCP of all zones, a special investigation campaign was conducted against persons consuming liquor in public places in all police station areas of Commissionerate Gautam Budh Nagar. In the course of this campaign, action has been taken under section 290 of IPC against a total of 226 persons consuming liquor in public places. Along with this, people have been warned that if they are found doing this next time, they will have to go to jail.
This action can be taken on drinking alcohol openly-
Police can take action against those who drink alcohol in public places by registering a case against them under section 68.
Under this, a fine of up to Rs 50,000 can be imposed on the accused.
If the police want, under Section 167 CrPC, the police can keep the accused in lock-up without giving them bailIf a person is found drunk or creating ruckus in a public place after drinking liquor, he can be arrested under Section 34 (1) of the Police Act 1861 without warrant, imprisonment for eight days or both jail and fine.
Apart from this, action can also be taken under sections 290 and 510 of the Indian Penal Code. This section provides for imprisonment for more than 24 hours or fine.
