National Unity Day: Home Minister Amit Shah pays tribute to Sardar Patel; Flags off “Run for Unity” marathon

National Unity Day: Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, will take part in the “Tribute to Sardar Vallabhai Patel” ceremony on Monday in New Delhi to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 147th birthday, which is also known as National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.

From the national stadium, Shah will signal the start of the marathon’s “Run for Unity,” in which about 8,000 people are anticipated to take part. To protect the safety of the marathon participants, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advice listing alternate routes and diversions from 6:45 am to 9 am.

Dharmendra Pradhan, the minister of education, will start the “Run for Unity” at Delhi University. Principals, instructors, senior officials, administrative personnel, and students from CBSE schools will all take part, in addition to DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Yogesh Singh.

The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge ceremony will take place close to the Mahatma Gandhi statue, and Pradhan will deliver a speech as part of the festivities. At Jawahar Park, unique exhibitions about Sardar Patel’s life will be on show.

In a letter to all states, Shah has urged them to plan 75,000 unity runs, 100 of which should take place in each of the nation’s 750 districts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Sardar Patel at the Statue of Unity as part of the festivities. He also took part in the Ekta Diwas parade and spoke to civil service candidates at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration.
