Nepal PM Oli suddenly recommends dissolution of parliament

Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has suddenly decided to dissolve the Parliament by calling a cabinet meeting on Sunday. PM KP Sharma Oli has sent the Cabinet recommendation to the President.

Nepal’s Energy Minister Bursaman Pun said that in an emergency meeting convened by PM KP Sharma Oli, the cabinet recommended dissolution of Parliament. The recommendation has been sent to the President. On the other hand, ruling Nepal Communist Party spokesman Narayanji Shrestha said that this decision has been taken in haste as not all ministers were present in the cabinet meeting this morning. It is against democratic norms and will take the nation back. This cannot be implemented.

This political development in Nepal has come to light when recently the Nepali Congress alleged that the Oli government is openly supporting the monarchists in the country. Nepal’s main opposition party, the Nepali Congress, alleged that the KP Sharma Oli government is supporting pro-monarchy rallies strategically in different parts of the country. In these rallies, there was a demand to restore the constitutional monarchy and re-establish the country as a Hindu nation.

Energy Minister in Oli’s cabinet, Barshman Pun, said, “In today’s cabinet meeting, it has been decided to dissolve the Parliament and send it to the President for recommendation.” Oli was pressurized to withdraw an ordinance related to the Constitutional Council Act which he had issued on Tuesday and was approved by President Bidya Devi Bhandari on the same day.

PM KP Sharma Oli has sent the Cabinet recommendation to the President. There is no such imagery in the Constitution of Nepal. Narayanji Shrestha, spokesperson of the ruling Nepal Communist Party, said, “This decision has been taken in a hurry as not all ministers were present in the cabinet meeting this morning.” It is against democratic norms and will take the country backward. It cannot be implemented. ”
