New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon arrived in New Delhi on Sunday for his first official visit to India. He was welcomed at the airport by Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, SP Singh Baghel.

New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon Arrives in India for Official Visit

Luxon is set to be the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker at the Raisina Dialogue 2025, scheduled to take place from March 17 to 19 in the capital. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, posted on X, confirming Luxon’s arrival and his participation in the event.

Key Meetings During Luxon’s Visit

As part of his diplomatic engagements, Luxon will meet External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar later on Sunday. On Monday, he will visit Raj Ghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi.

A bilateral meeting between Luxon and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to take place at Hyderabad House in Delhi. This meeting will include the exchange of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), signifying further cooperation between India and New Zealand in multiple sectors.

Luxon will also visit Rashtrapati Bhavan later on Monday to meet President Droupadi Murmu. His visit is expected to strengthen India-New Zealand ties, focusing on trade, investment, education, and regional security.

Later in the day, Luxon will visit Rashtrapati Bhavan to meet President Droupadi Murmu. This meeting will symbolize the growing diplomatic rapport between the two nations and reflect on avenues to strengthen cultural and people-to-people ties.

Luxon’s visit comes at a time when India and New Zealand are exploring new trade opportunities. Some of the key focus areas during the discussions include:

Trade and Investment: Enhancing bilateral trade and exploring new market opportunities.

Education: Strengthening student exchange programs and academic collaborations.

Technology and Innovation: Expanding cooperation in AI, renewable energy, and digital transformation.

Regional Security: Discussing Indo-Pacific security challenges and defense cooperation.
