Odisha Train Crash: JE’s rented accommodation sealed by CBI

Odisha train tragedy: In a probe related to Balasore triple train accident, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sealed the rented house of railway signal Junior Engineer(JE). Sources say that JE and his family were missing from their rented house since the accident took place in Balasore on June 2. The accident that claimed lives of 292 people is under investigation by the CBI, which is trying to ascertain the cause of the accident. The CBI had reportedly questioned the railway signal JE at an undisclosed location during the initial days of investigation.

The train accident

The triple train accident has now claimed lives of 292 people with more than 1100 people left injured after the tragedy. A 26-year-old man from Kolkata, Paltu Naskar has become the 292nd victim of the train wreck. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw after two days of tragedy said that change in electronic interlocking may have caused the accident. The CBI as part of their investigation has sealed the equipment and records of Bahanaga Bazar railway station.  The CBI also examined the accident site, tracks, signaling room, control room, and integorrated Bahanaga Bazar Station Master for investigation.

Railway Minister visits Odisha

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw arrived on a three-day visit to Odisha on Monday evening. The railway minister visited Puri Sation to oversee the preparation and arrangement for the famous Jagannath Rath Yatra festival 2023. The minister witnessed Rath Yatra on Tuesday morning and will proceed to visit Bahanaga Bazar in Balasore to interact with victims and families of the train tragedy. The minister will also visit Balasore district hospital and inspect development of Balasore train accident.
