This visit holds both spiritual and infrastructural significance, as the New Pamban Bridge is a key highlight. The bridge connects Rameswaram Island to the mainland and replaces the 1914-built old Pamban bridge, offering better rail connectivity, faster travel, and modern engineering marvels, including a vertical lift span that allows ships to pass beneath.
The inauguration of the bridge comes as a boost not just for devotees visiting the holy Ramanathaswamy Temple but also for traders, tourists, and residents of the region who rely on improved transportation links.
In addition to the bridge, PM Modi will inaugurate or lay foundation stones for multiple projects spanning infrastructure, roadways, ports, and tourism, further underlining the government’s focus on Southern India's development.
The PM’s visit also symbolizes the confluence of faith and progress, as the historic temple town of Rameswaram prepares to welcome him on one of Hinduism’s most celebrated festivals. With large-scale preparations underway and the spirit of Ram Navami in the air, Tamil Nadu awaits a significant day of both devotion and development.
