In a dramatic escalation following the recent Pahalgam terror attack, India launched Operation Sindoor—a precise military strike targeting terror camps and launchpads across the Pakistan border in the early hours of May 7. The operation aimed at dismantling militant infrastructure believed to be directly responsible for the recent bloodshed, has drawn mixed international reactions.

While India has received support from several allies, including Israel, some global powers such as China have expressed concern over rising tensions between India and Pakistan.

Israel's Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, took to social media, strongly backing India's right to self-defense

“Israel supports India’s right for self-defense. Terrorists should know there’s no place to hide from their heinous crimes against the innocent,” Azar wrote.

In contrast, China’s Foreign Ministry called India’s military action “regrettable” and urged both sides to exercise restraint

“China finds India’s military operation early this morning regrettable. We are concerned about the ongoing situation. India and Pakistan are and will always be each other’s neighbors. They’re both China’s neighbors as well. China opposes all forms of terrorism. We urge both sides to act in the larger interest of peace and stability, remain calm, exercise restraint and refrain from taking actions that may further complicate the situation,” said the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson during a press briefing in Beijing.

As regional and global reactions pour in, India maintains that Operation Sindoor was a necessary response to repeated cross-border terror threats and emphasized that the strikes were targeted, controlled, and intended to eliminate active threats without escalating into broader conflict.

Political voices within India, cutting across party lines, have largely come together in support of the operation. From Rahul Gandhi’s proud nod to the armed forces, to Asaduddin Owaisi's unusually sharp endorsement, and Akhilesh Yadav’s Sanskrit message lauding bravery, a rare moment of domestic political unity has emerged in the wake of the attack.

Whether Pakistan chooses to respond militarily or diplomatically will shape the next chapter of this tense standoff. As the world watches closely, the real question now is: will Pakistan show restraint or risk further escalation?
