Pak Hindu migrants evicted from govt land in Jaisalmer on IAS Tina Dabi orders, details inside

Hindu migrants evicted: Pakistani Hindu migrants are staging a protest dharna outside the district collectorate in Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. They alleged the administration bulldozed their 28 temporary settlements (kachchi basti) allegedly on the direction of IAS officer Tina Dabi.

According to information, the displaced Hindus from Pakistan are residing in the Amarsagar gram panchayat area. The protesters alleged that the district administration set their homes on fire. The woman who was agitating against the action, was forcibly dragged away. They said they will continue the dharna until they were resettled elsewhere.

Action on complaints from locals

However, IAS Tina Dabi defended the action and said that the action was taken following complaints received from Amarsagar sarpanch and local residents. The complainants claimed that the Hindu migrants had occupied the land illegally that allegedly belonged to the urban improvement trust (UIT) of the state government. She also said that notices were also served to the refugees to vacate the land but they refused to do so. Till now 28 encroachments have been removed.

Earlier last month, Jodhpur Development Authority launched an anti-encroachment drive and razed about 200 structures. Most of the structures belonged to migrants from Pakistan. The settlers filed a complaint alleging they were duped by three persons who “sold” the Jaipur Developemnt Authority (JDA) land to them.

The Narendra Modi government in 2019 had passed the Citizenship Amendment Act pledging to give citizenship to the Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis, and Christians — from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan who had come to India till December 31, 2014.
