Passport Update: Revolutionizing Travel! India’s Advanced E-passports With 41 Advanced Features Set to Debut in 60 Day; Details

Passport Update: The introduction of India’s cutting-edge electronic passports, or e-passports, in the following two months will usher in a revolutionary transformation in travel, and the Indian government is ready for it. An order for 4.5 crore chip-embedded passports will be placed after the Indian Security Press in Nashik has manufactured 70 million blank passport booklets in response to positive technical evaluations.

41 Advanced Features Enhance India’s E-passports

These passports are equipped with 41 cutting-edge features that meticulously follow ICAO regulations and speed up immigration procedures in 140 different countries. The radio frequency identification chip on a single sheet is the revolutionary element, maintaining the appearance of ordinary passports. The second page includes vital personal data as well as a unique digital security feature with a country-specific “digital signature,” which is validated by distinct certifications. This advancement helps Indian job searchers and ambitious students by paving the way for simple overseas travel. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Administration, 36 Passport Offices, and the Headquarters at PSP Division (only for official and diplomatic passports) all issue Indian passports. To this network, 93 PSKs and 428 POPSKs have been added as outgrowths of the 36 Passport Offices.

190 Indian Missions Extend Support to Expatriates

The 190 Indian Missions/Posts abroad offer Indian residents living abroad passport and other ancillary services. The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) mandates that all Passport Offices provide passports that are machine readable. The Chief Passport Officer (CPO) is the Joint Secretary (Passport Seva Programme) and Chief Passport Officer of the Central Passport Organisation (CPO), a subordinate office of the Ministry of External Affairs established in 1959. The CPO also serves as the Appellate Authority under the Passports Act of 1967 and the Head of Department under the Delegation of Financial Powers Rules of 1978. The Ministry’s Passport Seva Programme (PSP) Division is home to the CPO’s administrative centre. The Secretary (CPV & OIA) is in charge of running the Division. The Joint Secretary (CPV) is in responsible of resolving concerns with diplomatic passports, visas, and consular services.
