Union Home Minister Amit Shah Emphasizes Vision for Development

The decision is one more in a series of progressive decisions taken by the government aimed at bringing in efficient and people-friendly administrative developments for Ladakh, since declared a Union Territory post the bifurcation of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir on 5 August 2019. On the same day, abrogation of Article 370 led to the end of the special status of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and to its bifurcation into the Union Territory of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Since Ladakh is a Union Territory managed directly by the Union Home Ministry, it has played a major role in instating various reforms and development initiatives. This new creation is likely to get the essential services and opportunities closer to the citizens of Ladakh, promoting regional development and administrative efficiency.
