In the backdrop of heightened national security concerns, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday chaired a high-level meeting with top defence and security officials at his residence in New Delhi. The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the chiefs of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

According to official sources, the meeting focused on reviewing the prevailing security situation along the country's borders, ongoing counter-terror operations, and the preparedness of the Armed Forces in dealing with emerging threats—both conventional and hybrid in nature.

The Prime Minister emphasised the importance of jointness and synergy among the forces, and reiterated the government’s commitment to providing all necessary resources for modernising India’s defence infrastructure and enhancing combat capabilities. He also acknowledged the unwavering service of the Indian Armed Forces and expressed full confidence in their ability to protect the nation's sovereignty.
Sources said discussions also included maritime security in the Indo-Pacific, ongoing defence procurement, and coordination between intelligence agencies to counter asymmetric threats.
This meeting comes at a critical juncture, underlining the Centre’s proactive approach in maintaining a robust national security posture amid global and regional challenges.
