PM Modi Dives into Dwarka's Depths: A Spiritual Journey to the Lost City

Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a unique spiritual journey on Sunday, offering prayers at the Dwarkadhish Temple in Dwarka, Gujarat, by diving into the deep waters of the Arabian Sea. Describing it as a “divine experience,” PM Modi shared photos and videos of himself submerged, exploring the legendary underwater city believed to be associated with Lord Krishna.

Taking Darshan of the Ancient City

Clad in scuba gear, PM Modi ventured deep into the sea, performing a “Darshan” of the submerged remains of Dwarka. He shared his profound emotions, stating, “Today, I experienced moments that will stay with me forever. I went deep in the sea and did ‘Darshan’ of the ancient Dwarka city. Archeologists have written a lot about the Dwarka city hidden underwater. In our scriptures also, it is said about Dwarka that it was a city with beautiful gates and tall buildings, as tall as the top of the world. Lord Krishna himself constructed this city.”

A Dream Fulfilled

The dive held special significance for PM Modi, fulfilling a long-held desire to explore the remnants of the ancient city. “I had always been curious to go there and touch the remains of the ancient Dwarka city. I am full of emotions today… A decades-old dream was completed today,” he expressed.

Submarine Service in the Works

This unique experience aligns with the Gujarat government’s plans to introduce a submarine service in Dwarka, allowing devotees and tourists to explore the submerged city firsthand. This initiative promises to offer a glimpse into the rich history and mythology associated with Dwarka.

Beyond the Dive

Prior to his dive, PM Modi inaugurated the Sudarshan Setu, a four-lane cable-stayed bridge connecting Okha to Beyt Dwarka island, where the Lord Sri Krishna temple is situated. This infrastructure project aims to improve connectivity and accessibility to the pilgrimage site.
