PM Modi to inaugurate new railway projects, 5-star hotel, aquatic gallery in Gujarat today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate several key railway projects in Gujarat on Friday. The Prime Minister is also expected to inaugurate five-star hotel atop a railway station, new trains, among others. All of these projects cumulatively value Rs 1,100 crore.

The five-star hotel is part of the redeveloped Gandhinagar railway station, while the science city in Ahmedabad has consist three new attractions — an aquatic gallery, a robotic gallery and a nature park.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the upgradation of Gandhinagar Capital Railway station has been done at a cost of Rs 71 crore. It has been provided with the best of amenities including modern airport. The highlight of the project is that it is Divyang friendly. The entire building is designed and provided with Green Building rating features.

The aquatic gallery has been built at a cost of Rs 260 crore in the Science City. It is India’s largest aquarium having 68 large tanks to display marine life from across the world. This includes reef sharks, alligator gar, Koi and black pacu fish, among others.

Nature Park includes several picturesque features like a Mist Garden, Chess Garden, Selfie Points, Sculpture Park and an outdoor maze. 

The Prime Minister will also flag off two new trains i.e Gandhinagar Capital – Varanasi Superfast Express and MEMU service trains between Gandhinagar Capital and Varetha. In a tweet on Wednesday, the Prime Minister wrote, “At 4:30 PM tomorrow, 16th July, a range of interesting development works will be inaugurated in Gujarat. These works cover the environment, nature, railways and science.”

Sumit Awasthi, a senior Railway official in Ahmedabad, said, “The Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre in Gandhinagar, is becoming the venue of choice for organising national and international events such as exhibitions, conferences, etc. There was a lack of proper connectivity and accommodation. As a result, Gandhinagar railway station has been redeveloped incorporating a 318-room swanky hotel within.”
