In a landmark initiative to connect the Indian diaspora with the country's cultural roots, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Pravasi Bharatiya Express during the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas held in Bhubaneswar. Organized by the Ministry of External Affairs in collaboration with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), this exclusive tourist train aims to promote Indian tourism and showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage.
The Pravasi Bharatiya Express, also known as the Bharat Gaurav Train, is designed specifically for Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) aged between 45 and 65. It offers a 16-night, 17-day journey covering some of India’s most iconic cultural and spiritual landmarks.
Highlights of the Tour
The train departs from Delhi Safdarjung station and takes travelers on a spiritual and cultural odyssey. Key destinations include:
Ayodhya: Ram Mandir, Hanuman Garhi, and Aarti at Saryu River
Patna: Buddha Park and Patna Sahib Gurudwara
Varanasi: Sarnath, Kashi Vishwanath Temple, and Ganga Aarti
Mahabalipuram: Shore Temple (UNESCO site)
Rameshwaram: Dhanushkodi and Ramanathaswamy Temple
Cochin: Fort Kochi, Chinese fishing nets, and harbor cruise
Ekta Nagar: Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue
Agra: Taj Mahal (UNESCO site)
Other stops include Ajmer, Pushkar, and Madurai, providing an all-encompassing tour of India's spiritual and cultural diversity.
