Rahul Gandhi’s Scathing Rebuke, Calls Out Karnataka Chief Minister in Prajwal Revanna Case

Learn about Rahul Gandhi's vehement denunciation of the purported BJP inaction in the Prajwal Revanna case, emphasizing the necessity of victim support and accountability.

Prajwal Revanna: Congressman Rahul Gandhi denounced in a scathing letter to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah the purported inaction of senior BJP figures, such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, on the Prajwal Revanna pornographic video case. Rahul Gandhi also emphasized the need to hold all those responsible for the crimes accountable and called for support for the victims.

Gandhi’s Shock and Outrage

When Gandhi discovered that G. Devaraje Gowda had allegedly told Home Minister Amit Shah as early as December 2023 about Prajwal Revanna’s history of sexual violence and the existence of incriminating videos, Gandhi expressed his profound shock. He attacked the BJP leadership for allegedly putting up with these serious accusations while still endorsing Prajwal Revanna, even allowing him to leave the nation in order to avoid being looked into.

Severe Condemnation

Rahul Gandhi said, “What is even more shocking is that despite these gruesome allegations being brought to the notice of the senior most BJP leadership, the Prime Minister campaigned and canvassed, for a mass rapist. Furthermore, the union government wilfully allowed him to flee India to derail any meaningful investigation.”

He stated that the most severe condemnation was warranted due to the extremely twisted nature of these crimes and Prajwal Revanna‘s complete impunity, which he enjoyed with the approval of the Prime Minister and Home Minister.

Addressing Gender-Based Violence

Drawing attention to the pervasive nature of violence against women throughout India, Gandhi underscored the moral responsibility of the Congress party to pursue justice for women. In response to the allegations, he applauded the Karnataka government for setting up a Special Investigation Team (SIT). He also requested that Prime Minister Modi revoke Prajwal Revanna’s diplomatic passport and hasten his extradition to India.

He said, “I request you to kindly extend all possible support to the victims. They deserve our compassion and solidarity as they fight their battle for justice. We have a collective duty to ensure that all parties responsible for these heinous crimes are brought to book.”
