Rahul Gandhi: In response to Rahul Gandhi's "sudden" visit to the facility last week, the provost of Delhi University's PG men's hostel sent him a letter on Wednesday. The incident occurred a few days after the Congress leader visited the university's Post-Graduate Men's Hostel on Friday, where he spoke with some students and shared lunch with them. "Such conduct from a leader of a National Party who has Z-plus security is beyond dignity," the provost's warning added.

Gandhi's 'unexpected entry' into the premises breached the hostel's established norms

Provost KP Singh wrote Gandhi a two-page letter in which he described the incident as reckless behaviour and trespass. Rahul Gandhi was further admonished in the notice to "cease and desist" from adopting similar actions in the future. Gandhi's "unexpected entry" into the premises with three automobiles, according to the provost, breached the hostel's established norms. The provost cited rule 15.13 of the Hostel's Handbook of Information and Rules in the notice, which reads as follows: "No resident shall indulge in any activity in the Hostel premises other than academic and residents council activities."

'Such a conduct from a leader of a National Party who has Z-plus security is beyond dignity,' the notice stated. 'The Management Committee of the Hostel in its emergent meeting held on 06.05.2023 in the presence of Dean Students' Welfare and Proctor of the University of Delhi has unanimously decided and resolved that,' according to the notice. The hostel's chairman and other members of the management committee denounced the occurrence, calling it trespassing and reckless behaviour. A day after Gandhi's visit, on Saturday, Delhi University issued a stinging statement in which it claimed that the "sudden and unauthorised" admission had caused severe security concerns for both the leader and the dormitory residents. "The university administration will take the appropriate actions to prevent similar trespassing occurrences from occurring in the future," it had stated.
