Railway board recommends CBI probe into Odisha triple train tragedy, says Ashwini Vaishnaw

A CBI inquiry has been recommended into the train accident in Odisha. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Sunday (June 4), “The track repair work in two lines is almost done. After the information received so far, the CBI ( CBI) inquiry has been recommended.”

The Railway Minister further said, “The work related to the track has been done and the work of overhead wiring is going on. Patients are being treated in hospitals. Everyone has worked together in the rescue work. Those who died in this accident Efforts are being made to contact his family.” Earlier in the day, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, along with Union Health-Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had visited Shri Ram Chandra Bhanj Medical College.

He interacted with the patients admitted there and also discussed the situation with the doctors. Ashwini Vaishnav said, “Almost all the patients in Bhadrak Government Hospital have been reunited with their families. I would like to thank all the doctors and staff of Bhadrak Medical. They have served the patients very well.” He said, “It is our responsibility to establish normalcy as soon as possible. Railway is running free trains. The death toll has crossed 270.”

“Identified those responsible”

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had also inspected the ongoing repair work at the accident site. He had said, “The Commissioner of Railway Safety has investigated the matter. The cause of the accident has been ascertained and those responsible for it have also been identified. The accident occurred due to change in electronic interlocking. We will take strict action against those responsible for this.”
