A major update has emerged in the Raja Raghuwanshi murder case. A woman named Ujala Yadav has claimed she unknowingly travelled with Sonam Raghuvanshi on a bus to Gorakhpur just hours after the murder. Sonam is accused of being involved in Raja’s killing.

Ujala, who lives in Ghazipur’s Awalipur village, said she met Sonam on June 11 at the Varanasi Cantt Roadways Bus Station. The girl said, “She just looked like any other traveller. She asked me about the Gorakhpur bus. I didn’t know who she was.”

Ujala said she boarded the Gorakhpur-bound bus at 11 pm from platform 5. Ten minutes later, Sonam entered the same bus wearing black trousers and a T-shirt. Although Sonam was alone, Ujala noticed two men had come to drop her off.

During the trip, Sonam asked fellow passengers for a phone, but no one gave her one. Ujala added, “She asked me for water, but instead of drinking it, she wiped her face with it. She also told me not to check Instagram.”

Sonam got off the bus shortly after Saidpur, about 10 km before Ujala’s stop. The next morning, Ujala saw Sonam’s face in the news and realised she was a suspect in the murder case.

Passenger Tries To Help Investigation

Ujala said she found Sachin Raghuwanshi’s (brother of Raja Raghuwanshi) phone number through social media posts. She called him and shared her experience. She said, “I told him to check the CCTV footage at Varanasi bus station. It might reveal something.”

Ujala believes Sonam’s attempt to reach Gorakhpur could be linked to a possible escape route toward Nepal. The detail has sparked fresh questions around Sonam’s actions after the murder.

Ujala (a student in Lucknow) had only come to her village for a funeral. She didn’t expect to become part of a national news story. She confirmed that Meghalaya police and local media have since contacted her.
