Ram temple to open in January 2024 for devotees: Trust

According to people familiar with the development of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, the temple has about 50% of its construction work finished and would be ready for devotees in January 2024 after the installation of the deity’s idols.

Around 15% of the work on the Ram Mandir’s sanctum sanctorum has been finished, according to Champat Rai, general secretary of the trust in charge of managing the massive temple’s construction.

The ground level of the Ram temple must be finished by December 2023 for worshipers to enter the temple after that date.

“Grand celebrations for the opening of Ram Mandir will start in December this year and will continue till Makar Sankranti on January 14, 2024,” Rai told reporters. “Idols of Ram Lalla will be installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple on Makar Sankranti in 2024.”

According to him, the main temple would feature 12 teak wood gates and will be built on a 350 by 250-foot area. There will be a total of 166 pillars put in the temple, with 144 on the first floor and 82 on the second.

“Around 4.70 lakh cubic feet carved stones will be used for construction of the main structure of Ram temple. Pillars and stone slabs carved at the workshop in Ayodhya are being used first,” said Rai.
