Rashtrapati Bhavan’s Response to Sonia Gandhi’s Remark on Droupadi Murmu

The statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan clarified that President Droupadi Murmu was never fatigued during her address to the joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The President's office categorically rejected any notion that she was tired during her speech, which focused on addressing issues related to marginalized communities, women, and farmers. "Nothing could be farther from the truth," the statement read, emphasising that the President's commitment to speaking on such matters can never be tiring.

Misunderstanding of Language

Rashtrapati Bhavan further suggested that some political figures may have misunderstood the nuances of Indian languages like Hindi, which could have led to a misinterpretation of the President's tone. The statement also condemned the remarks as being in "poor taste" and entirely avoidable. It pointed out the lack of respect shown towards the office of the President, with leaders incorrectly claiming that President Murmu appeared exhausted and struggled to speak.

BJP Condemns Sonia Gandhi's ‘Poor Thing’ Remark on President Droupadi Murmu

The dispute escalated as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strongly condemned the comments made by Sonia Gandhi. BJP President J.P. Nadda expressed outrage, calling the remarks an insult to the dignity of the President and an example of Congress’ "feudal mindset." Nadda also called for an unconditional apology from the Congress party, stating that Sonia Gandhi's words reflected an elitist, anti-poor, and anti-tribal mindset.
