The Delhi Police on Saturday said that the Rinku Sharma murder case has been transferred to the Crime Branch. In a shocking incident on Wednesday, 25-year-old Rinku was stabbed to death allegedly by a group of men following a quarrel at a birthday party in Mangolapuri area of the national capital. "Mangolpuri murder case transferred to Crime Branch," the police said in a statement.
On Saturday, a crime branch team, along with forensic experts, visited the crime scene, lifted evidence, and met Sharma’s family members. According to Mannu, the crime branch officials took names of the persons involved in his brother’s murder from his family members.
An FIR was registered in the case on Friday and five accused have already been arrested. According to the police, the incident took place following a scuffle at a birthday party over some business rivalry.
"The police immediately registered an FIR and five persons have been arrested in this matter so far. We are in touch with family members. And we are looking at all angles in this investigation," Delhi Police PRO Chinmoy Biswal said. "So far, whatever has emerged from our investigation, the incident took place following a scuffle at a birthday party over some business rivalry," he said responding to a query about any other angle to the incident.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) slammed the Delhi Police alleging that it had failed to control law and order in the national capital. The AAP said that Home Minister Amit Shah was responsible for Rinku Sharma's murder and demanded his resignation.
The ruling AAP also alleged that the BJP was creating communal discord in Delhi.
Addressing a press conference at the party office on Saturday, AAP national spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj said, "Mangolpuri murder is shocking for all people in Delhi. We have noticed that Delhi Police and Union Home Ministry have failed to ensure the safety of people in Delhi. Now, even Hindus are not safe under BJP government."
He added, "Ever since the BJP came to power, people of a particular community (Muslims) were already worried and now BJP has started creating fear among the people of Sikh community among those who are protesting against the Centre's farm laws."
