Sarat Mani Chakraborty: Sarat Mani Chakraborty, a Hindu man living in Bangladesh, was attacked by sharp objects around 10 pm on Monday.
Who was Sarat Mani Chakraborty?
A grocery store owner, Sarat was reported attacked with sharp weapons in Narsingdi district.
A prominent social activist Bappaditya Basu claimed a large amount of money was demanded by extremist Islamists from Sarat two days before the incident. Basu warned Bangladesh would be left with no Hindus within a few years if such attacks would continue. Basu went on to say that the Mohammad Yunus-led government of Bangladesh is backing the killings of Hindus.
What happened to Sarat?
Sarat was at his shop in the Charsindur Bazaar in Palash Upazila area of Narsingdi. This was when he was suddenly attacked by unidentified assailants with sharp weapons. Local residents rushed him to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Hindu man is survived by his wife, Antara Mukherjee, and his 12-year-old son, Abhik Chakraborty. Sarat was previously employed in South Korea before he returned a few years ago to Bangladesh.
A neighbour of Sarat said he was an extremely humane, calm and socially responsible person. He added that Sarat had no enemies and he was killed only Sarat was a Hindu.
