DK Shivakymar, Congress state President amid the race for next Karnataka's Chief Minister race said that the party won 135 seats under his presidency in the state.

“I am the party state president and under my presidency, Congress has won 135 seats in Karnataka,” adding that the central leadership has called him and his contender Siddaramaiah to Delhi said DKS.

Shivakumar, who turned 61 today, stated that his goal was to free Karnataka, which he did, and that he will reveal in the future everything that transpired over the previous five years.

"I assured Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Kharge that my only aim is to deliver Karnataka.”

“It's my birthday today, I'll meet my family. Afterward, I'll leave for Delhi. Under my leadership,we've 135 MLAs, all in one voice said-matter (to appoint CM) is to be left to the party high command. My aim was to deliver Karnataka & I did it,” he said.

“I believe in one thing – a single man with courage makes a majority. I’ve proved it. I don’t want to disclose what all has happened in the last five years. I’ll disclose it in future,” he added.

“When all our MLAs left the party, I didn't lose my heart," said DKS referring to horse trading after the Congress formed the government in Karnataka in 2018.

After the proposal was put out by Siddaramaiah and approved by Shivakumar, the 135 legislators opted in unanimity on Monday to give party president Mallikarjun Kharge the authority to choose the future Karnataka chief minister's name.

Following the resolution's passage, the three observers—Sushil Kumar Shinde, Jitendra Singh, and Deepak Babaria—appointed by Kharge collected the legislators' individual comments and would present a report on it to the party's top command in New Delhi.
