‘Stand Firm with INDIA,’ Sonia Gandhi’s Message to Congress Leadership

During a vital meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), Sonia Gandhi's appeal for harmony and cooperation within the Congress party, particularly in support of the INDIA Bloc, rang true.

Sonia Gandhi: In an apparent allusion to the Sanatana Dharma dispute, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said the party should not get caught up in the “Hindu-Muslim debate” during a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), sources informed indiatoday.in. The party has also vowed to make the INDIA bloc a “ideological and electoral success” in order to rid the nation of “divisive politics” and guarantee that the populace receives a sensitive and responsible leadership.

Prioritizing the Plight of the Poor

Rahul Gandhi claimed that the party should solely discuss the plight of the poor at the CWC meeting in Hyderabad since he believed that the BJP was governing in a “crony and capitalist” manner. All state party leaders and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) officials will take part in an extended meeting of the CWC that will take place today. Members of the Central Election Committee and parliamentary party office holders have also been invited to the meeting to discuss election strategy.

CWC Applauds INDIA Bloc’s Growth and Raises Alarm for BJP

The CWC also “wholeheartedly” praised the ongoing strengthening of the INDIA bloc on Saturday, adding that it has already alarmed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. The CWC conducted its first meeting after being recreated, and the party made the claim in a 14-point resolution that was approved by it. The CWC was extremely concerned about the “increasing unemployment and continuous rise in prices, especially of essential commodities” in its decision. “The prime minister’s so-called rozgar melas were a hoax to cover up the abject failure to create, as promised, two crore jobs a year,” the resolution said.

CWC Expresses Deep Concern: Manipur’s Constitutional Crisis in Spotlight

It expressed profound sorrow at Manipur’s “total breakdown of the constitutional machinery” and ongoing bloodshed. “After more than four months, the state is bitterly divided due to the BJP’s polarisation agenda,” the Congress’ top decision-making body alleged. “The silence and neglect of the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi), the failure of the Home Minister (Amit Shah) and the intransigence of the Chief Minister (N Biren Singh) have led to an unprecedented situation where there are repeated clashes between the security forces and civilians and between the Army/Assam Rifles and the state police force,” the Congress alleged. The CWC asserted that the sparks from Manipur now pose a hazard to the greater Northeastern area. The CWC repeated the Congress’ call for the Chief Minister to be dismissed immediately and President’s Rule to be imposed. Additionally, it demanded that every effort be made to recover seized weapons and ammunition, restore public order, ease the humanitarian crisis affecting thousands of besieged people and internal refugees, and create a platform for communication among various groups of people. The highest decision-making body of the Congress categorically denounced “China’s incursions into Indian-held territory and the repeated provocations, such as the publication of maps that include Arunachal Pradesh and other parts of India.”

Congress Alleges PM’s China Clean Chit

“Most unfortunately, the Prime Minister’s clean chit to China on June 19, 2020 and his continued refusal to admit the loss of territory have misled the country, belittled the sacrifices of our jawans, and emboldened China to continue with its transgressions,” the party alleged. The CWC urged the government to be transparent regarding the border dispute with China and to take a firm stance against any attempts to undermine India’s territorial integrity. The CWC restated the party’s demand for an investigation into the shocking findings in the Adani case by a joint parliamentary committee. According to the CWC’s resolution, the Modi administration promised to meet the MSP and other requests of farmers and farmers’ associations, but they are now facing mounting debt. “Agriculture and the rural economy are in deep distress. MSMEs are languishing since the blow of demonetisation and due to the lack of support from the government… The economic outlook remains bleak. The sole concern of the government seems to be headline management,” it said. The meeting was attended by the president of the Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, as well as former party leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Ashok Gehlot of Rajasthan, Bhupesh Baghel of Chhattisgarh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of Himachal Pradesh, Siddaramaiah of Karnataka, and general secretaries KC Venugopal and Jairam Ramesh.
