Tamil Nadu allows opening of worship places during weekends

With daily Covid-19 cases falling below 1,300 in Tamil Nadu, the state government has loosened restrictions. Now, the state government has allowed the opening of places of worship on weekends.

Tamil Nadu had recorded 1,280 new Covid-19 cases and 19 deaths. There are a total of 15,650 active cases in the state.

The decision came after Chief Minister MK Stalin held a review meeting on Wednesday. Following this, a new set of relaxations has been announced.

The state government has also been relaxed restrictions for visiting beaches. Tuition centres and job fairs, as well, can be conducted by adhering to the Covid-19 safety protocols.

Meanwhile, the Madras High Court on Tuesday granted liberty to the state government on decide on keeping the temples open on Friday on which the Vijayadasami falls.

The Tamil Nadu government had extended the ongoing lockdown till October 31 with more relaxations on September 29.
