Alliance in offing? TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu meets Amit Shah, may call on Narendra Modi

Chandrababu Naidu: Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu today met BJP president JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Saturday. Reports said the two met to discuss an alliance ahead of the Telangana assembly election later this year and general elections next year. The meeting lasted for about half an hour. According to information, Naidu was expected to meet prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.

TDP was a part of NDA in 2014 but quit the ruling alliance in March 2018 before the 2019 elections on the issue of special status to Andhra Pradesh. He also held campaigns, rallies and meetings along with Congress leaders against Modi. However, both parties came together after the recent municipal elections in Port Blair.

PM Modi remembered NT Rama Rao, TDP founder on his birth anniversary in his radio program Mann Ki Baat last month.

NTR was the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for seven years over three terms.

May meet Modi

Reports said the TDP chief is also likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.

Naidu is in Delhi to attend the consultative meeting of the leaders on G20. He met with Shah and BJP chief J.P. Nadda on late Saturday evening.

Naidu was accompained by party MPs K. Rammohan Naidu, Kesineni Srinivas and Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar and former MP Kambhampati Rammohan Rao.

Naidu calls Modi visionary

Recently, Naidu has been praising Modi and his efforts of reformation. During a speech in April, he called PM Modi a “visionary leader”. He also has been vocal about his willingness to associate with Modi in the nation building process.

Reportedly TDP has also convinced Pawan Kalyan for alliance in AP. Kalyan had expressed opposition unity to act against the anti-incumbent government.
