Tension on the border: Amidst the commotion of Chinese soldiers, now the Air Force Chief reached Ladakh

Air Force Chief VR Choudhary has visited the area amid the ongoing tension with China along the International Border in Ladakh. After reaching Ladakh, the Chief of the Air Staff took stock of the preparations and interacted with the officers present at the airbase. Army Chief General MM Naravane also visited Ladakh two weeks before the visit of Air Force Chief VR Choudhary.

The Air Force said that on Saturday, Air Chief Marshal Chaudhary took stock of the deployment of the Indian Air Force in the Air Force Station in Leh and the Northern Sector. This is the first visit of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal VR Choudhary to Ladakh.

On October 8, on the occasion of the 89th Air Force Day after taking over as the Chief of the Air Staff in the same month, Air Chief Marshal Chowdhury had said that the presence of the People’s Liberation Army of China has increased in eastern Ladakh. However, he had said that this is not going to make much difference to the Air Force. He had told that the Chinese Air Force has increased its presence in three airfields across the LAC.

On May 5 last year, there was a situation of standoff on the border between the Indian and Chinese army. There was a violent clash between them in the areas of Pangang Lake, after which both the sides increased their deployment there. After several rounds of military and diplomatic level talks, the two sides completed the process of withdrawal of troops in Gogra area in August. Troops were withdrawn from the northern and southern banks of the lake in February, with 50,000 to 60,000 troops from both sides currently stationed along the Line of Actual Control in the sensitive sector.
