Egypt reiterated on Wednesday its desire to buy Tejas light combat aircraft, radars, military helicopters, and other systems from India, and both countries pledged to step up their overall defence cooperation in view of the changing regional security landscape. People with knowledge of the situation indicated that during delegation-level discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the Egyptian side expressed its interest in acquiring the Indian platforms. The powerful Arab leader, 68, came to this country on Tuesday for a three-day visit. He will attend Thursday’s Republic Day festivities as the primary guest. According to the sources, Egypt and India have already had preliminary discussions over the purchase of Tejas.

4. Centre might release a “benchmark pricing” for little millets

The Center might soon establish a benchmark price for minor millets produced in various States in light of the expansion of millets farming. The Center promised to assist States in obtaining and distributing millets via the public distribution system. Nine States currently purchase millets such jowar, bajra, and ragi for a minimum support price (MSP) set by the Center. Minor millets are not now available. Millets are increasingly being purchased using MSP, according to Subodh Kumar Singh, additional secretary in the Food Ministry. “The Ministries of Agriculture and Food are collaborating to set a benchmark price for the minor millets. The production of little millets should rise. If the benchmark price is guaranteed, we anticipate that their output.
