The motion’s debate was acrimonious and contentious, with the opposition, led by Congressman Rahul Gandhi, calling for a Joint Parliamentary Committee to look into the issues raised by the Hindenburg report on the Adani group and claims that the group had benefited from its close proximity to the government.

2. L&T and MoD sign contract for 41 sets of modular bridges for 2,585 crores

For 41 sets of modular bridges for the Army’s Corps of Engineers, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) signed a contract for 2,585 crores on Wednesday. According to a Ministry release, L&T has been designated by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) as the production partner for these bridges.

7. Himachal Pradesh authorities searched the Adani Group’s offices amid charges of tax fraud

The Adani Wilmar outlets and other Adani Group businesses in the state have been searched by the Himachal Pradesh State Excise and Taxation Department. On Wednesday late at night, a team from the Excise Department’s South Enforcement Zone arrived to the establishment. According to sources ,document checks in the godowns went on until late at night, and it is odd that no cash was being used to meet tax obligations. Adani Wilmar is a 50:50 joint venture between Wilmar, based in Singapore, and business behemoth Adani Group. In all, seven Adani Group businesses operate in Himachal Pradesh. The businesses are also a major supplier of groceries.

8. Disney will let go 7,000 workers in order to increase profitability

On Wednesday, Walt Disney Co. announced a significant restructure in an effort to save $5.5 billion in costs and turn its streaming business viable. As part of the restructuring, 7,000 jobs would be lost. The 7,000 job losses will represent about 3.6% of Disney’s whole workforce. On Wednesday, Panorama Studios International Ltd announced that they have purchased the remake rights for “Drishyam” and “Drishyam 2,” two Malayalam thriller movies, in all languages outside of India. The decision was made, so the makers claim, in response to the popularity of “Drishyam 2″‘s Hindi adaptation, which starred Ajay Devgn and Tabu.
