Vande Bharat Express: The Vande Bharat Express is likely to make its southern debut on November 10 with the launch of its fifth edition, according to PTI . The fifth edition will be launched between Chennai, Bengaluru and Mysuru, said the agency.

The distance it will cover will be around 483 km.

Poll bonanza

The Railways recently launched the third and the fourth Vande Bharat Express from Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, both going to polls later this year. The train from Himachal Pradesh was flagged off in Una district on Thursday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Vande Bharat will bring down the travel time between Delhi and Chandigarh to three hours from next week onwards.

The journry from Una to New Delhi will be reduced by two hours. The train will run from Amb Andaura in the hill state to New Delhi six days a week, except on Wednesdays, with stops at Ambala, Chandigarh, Anandpur Sahib, and Una.

Vaned Bharat speed

Vande Bharat Express has a maximum speed of 160 km/h that can be sustained for a maximum of 140 seconds. It exceeded 180km/h during testing but its tracks are not capable of supporting such high speeds. The train is operated at a maximum speed of 130 km/h .

The new Vande Bharat train is an advanced version compared to the earlier ones, being much lighter and capable of reaching higher speeds in shorter duration. Vande Bhart 2.0 trains have Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) called KAVACH and the coaches are equipped with disaster lights with a battery backup of three hours.

Aerodynamic design

The Vande Bharat Express's exterior appearance consists of aerodynamic design, narrowing at each end of the train which is designed to combat air resistance. It also has a driver cabin at each end, allowing for faster turnaround at terminating stations.

The train has 16 passenger cars, with a seating capacity of 1,128 passengers. Two of the center compartments are first class compartments that seat 52 each, with the rest being coach compartments seating 78 each.
