In a tweet posted on Wednesday, PM Modi stated, “Baba Vishwanath’s blessings have always inspired me to accelerate development in Varanasi. Projects to enhance infrastructure in roads, electricity, education, and tourism sectors; event scheduled for 11 a.m.
Varanasi, which is also PM Modi’s parliamentary constituency, has witnessed rapid infrastructural growth over the past decade. This upcoming event is another significant step toward transforming the ancient city into a modern hub while preserving its spiritual and cultural heritage.
While the detailed list of the projects is yet to be released officially, sources indicate that the schemes will focus on improving urban mobility, expanding educational infrastructure, boosting tourism facilities, and enhancing electricity supply systems — all of which are crucial for the region’s long-term growth.
Officials from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Power are expected to be present at the event. The local administration is also preparing for the Prime Minister’s visit, ensuring security and logistical arrangements are in place.
These developments reflect the government’s continued commitment to the holistic development of Kashi under the Smart City Mission and other centrally-sponsored schemes. With consistent efforts from both state and central leadership, Varanasi continues to serve as a model for integrated urban development rooted in heritage and culture.
