Vijayadashami 2024: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, in his annual Vijayadashami speech at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur, warned that a “Deep State” is attempting to divide the nation along caste and community lines. He also accused some political parties of aiding these efforts for their “selfish interests.” Bhagwat urged the Hindu society to overcome caste differences and to reach out to Dalits and weaker sections, emphasizing the need for greater unity.
Appeal for Social Harmony
Bhagwat stressed the importance of celebrating festivals like Valmiki Jayanti and Ravidas Jayanti collectively, rather than restricting them to specific communities. “Why should Valmiki Jayanti be celebrated only in Valmiki colonies? Valmiki wrote the Ramayana for the entire Hindu society. All should celebrate these festivals together,” he stated. He urged that diversity in language, culture, and food should be embraced, but it should not hinder social harmony.
Building Relationships Across Communities
The RSS chief underscored that social harmony requires more than just symbolic programs. “There should be friendship between individuals and families across different sections of society,” he said. Bhagwat shared an example of Valmiki community members facing a lack of schools for their children, and Rajput community members offering to educate 20% of students from their neighboring colony free of cost.
Warning Against External Influences
Bhagwat further warned that certain forces were working to destabilize the country, drawing parallels to the situation in Bangladesh. He stressed that if India continues to grow, it will disrupt the “shops of selfish interests” both within and outside the country.
The speech, delivered on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, called for unity and mutual goodwill among all sections of Hindu society to strengthen the nation against divisive forces.
