Waterlogging: Several parts of Delhi-NCR witnessed waterlogging on Tuesday morning heavy rain and thunderstorms lashed the city. Early morning showers badly affected many parts of Delhi and its neighbouring areas, including Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida.
Water logging resulted in traffic congestion at several place and commuters. Commuters were seen wading in water under the Pankha road flyover. Traffic woes are likely to increase during peak hours.
Thunderstorm, rain predicted
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain in entire Delhi and NCR, Gannaur, Meham, Tosham, Rohtak, Bhiwani (Haryana) Baraut, Shikarpur, Khurja (UP). Heavy intensity rain is also expected to occur over isolated places.
The weather department also said thunderstorms with heavy intensity rain would occur over adjoining areas of NCR (Hindon Air Force Station, Ghaziabad).
“Light intensity rain/drizzle would occur over and adjoining areas of few places of Delhi ( Lajpat Nagar, Malviyanagar, Kalkaji, Tughlakabad, Chhattarpur, IGNOU, Ayanagar, Deramandi), NCR ( Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh) and Uttar Pradesh’s Deoband, Muzaffarnagar, Khatauli, Sakoti Tanda, Daurala, Meerut, and Modinagar,” Met predicted.
Wet spell in Himachal
The Met office on Monday issued a ‘yellow’ alert for thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh as well. It has predicted a wet spell in the state till April 6.
The Met office earlier said that most of India, barring parts of the northwest and peninsular region, is expected to experience above-normal maximum temperatures from April to June.
