India's World Cup opener in Chennai faces a slight rain threat, while several Indian regions can expect rain and thunderstorms, with varying weather conditions in different cities.

Weather Update: On October 8, India is set to kick off their World Cup journey against Australia at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. Despite a cloud-covered and rainy eve preceding this crucial match, no games in this prestigious tournament have experienced delays or stoppages thus far. Fortunately, the weather forecast for match day appears promising, with a high likelihood of hazy sunshine and only 12-17 percent chance of rain during match hours. Although the evening forecast suggests mainly clear conditions, there remains a significant chance of precipitation.

A forecast indicates that Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and the Andaman-Nicobar Islands are expected to experience widespread rain and thunderstorms. In contrast, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu might encounter isolated to scattered rain and thunderstorms. Ladakh may experience isolated instances of snow, rain, and thunderstorms.

Delhi

No new change in weather conditions has been predicted for the national capital. Delhi will continue to have a sunny sky. Meanwhile, the morning will start to experience a drop in temperature. For today, the maximum temperature will be 36 degrees while the minimum will be 26 degrees with humidity at 61%.

Mumbai

Affirming relief, Mumbai is projected to remain sunny & clear the entire day. The upcoming week is also forecast to remain on a similar note, with negligible chances of rains. Today’s maximum temperature will be 33 degrees while the minimum will be 25 degrees with humidity at 79%.

Chennai

As written above, Chennai will have a pleasant start to the day but the sky will be covered with partial clouds from the afternoon. There are chances of drizzles as well. Today’s maximum temperature will be 33 degrees while the minimum will be 27 degrees with humidity at 90%.

Kolkata

IMD has predicted scattered thunderstorms in the city from morning until the afternoon. The sky will generally remain mostly cloudy from thereon with very little chance of rain. Today’s maximum temperature will be 32 degrees while the minimum will be 27 degrees with humidity at 72%.
