Weather Update: In the areas of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha and Bihar, IMD forecasted mild to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning. According to IMD, Northwest India is expected to be affected by an active Western disturbance starting on April 12, 2024. IMD also forecasted thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and scattered to moderately widespread rainfall in Punjab, Haryana and UP. There will be cloudy condition in many parts across the nation including the nation’s capital (Delhi) and the capital city of Tamilnadu, Chennai.
In addition, IMD said that there would likely be snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir along with intermittent, heavy rain. In select areas of Chhattisgarh, the IMD predicted moderate rain and thunderstorms. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there will be light rain in the evening and the day will remain gloomy with thunder.

As per IMD, from isolated areas in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Jammu-Kashmir to Assam, Meghalaya, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Interior Karnataka may encounter lightning today. Furthermore, In Marathwada, isolated locations may experience lightning and hailstorms. While in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Telangana, isolated areas could see lightning and gusty winds with speeds reaching 30-40 kmph.
