Weather Update: IMD forecasts that during the next four to five days, there will likely be light to moderate rainfall in some or many places over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Lakshadweep. It is very likely that there will be isolated periods of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning over Tamil Nadu from 6 to 8 January, Kerala from 6 to 7 January, Lakshadweep on January 6, and south coastal Andhra Pradesh on January 7. On January 7, there's also a good chance of isolated, extremely heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. It is highly probable that there will be light to moderate rainfall in certain areas of Madhya Pradesh over the next five days; in isolated areas of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Sikkim, there may be light rainfall on January 6. On January 8 and 9, there was light snowfall in isolated areas of the Western Himalayan Region and light rain in isolated areas over the plains of Northwest India.

Dense to extremely dense fog is probably present in some areas of Punjab; in isolated areas of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, northwest Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Assam & Meghalaya, Mizoram & Tripura. It is highly probable that there will be severe cold days in certain areas of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and a few isolated areas of East Rajasthan. It is very likely going to be a cold day in certain areas of West Rajasthan. There's a good chance of isolated areas of heavy rainfall in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. There is a high probability of isolated thunderstorms with lightning over Madhya Pradesh, South Interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe, as well as Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
