Weather Update: Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by isolated thunderstorms and lightning, is very likely over south Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep on December 21, with a significant decrease thereafter. Isolated light rain/snowfall is expected over Jammu-Kashmir-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and north Punjab, north Haryana, and Uttarakhand on December 22nd-24th. No significant weather is expected in the remaining parts of the country over the next five days. Dense fog is expected in isolated pockets across Punjab, Haryana, Assam and Meghalaya, as well as Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Rainfall is expected in many places across Lakshadweep, as well as in isolated locations across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Minicoy-4 and Aminidivi-3 are expected to receive significant rainfall in Lakshadweep. During the next four days, dense fog in isolated pockets is expected over Punjab, Haryana, Assam, and Meghalaya, as well as Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura in the morning hours. Minimum temperatures are unlikely to change significantly over Northwest, Central, and East India over the next two days, but will rise by 2-3°C thereafter. Thunderstorms with lightning are very likely in isolated locations across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, and Lakshadweep. Squally weather with wind speeds of 40-45 km/h gusting to 55 km/h is expected to prevail over the Comorin area. Fishermen should avoid going into these areas.
