Weather Update: IMD forecasts that cyclonic circulation over the Konkan region allowed the southwest monsoon to maintain its timing with Mumbai. The monsoon surge arrived a few days ahead of June 11 as planned. The prediction indicates that there will likely be heatwave conditions in a few areas of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh (including Lucknow). There is a possibility of heatwave conditions in some areas of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Odisha, and Jharkhand. The Patna Meteorological Department reports that there is little chance of relief from the heat for the next three days and that today’s high could be as high as 43 degrees Celsius.

IMD forecasts the chance of extremely heavy rainfall in some parts of West Bengal, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Goa, Assam, Karnataka and Kerala. In parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra (including Mumbai), Telangana, and Karnataka, there have been heavy rainfall. Chennai can also have rainfall today. The conditions of heat wave in the isolated areas of West Bengal experiencing severe conditions. There is a high probability of heat waves occurring in few Southern regions as well.
