Weather Update: Much of the country is experiencing intense heat, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in many areas. The Meteorological Department has specifically warned five states of an impending heatwave, which will affect West Bengal, Bihar, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh for the next five days, while Punjab and Haryana will be affected for two days. However, the heat wave will eventually subside.
Thankfully, the Meteorological Department has predicted that the western Himalayan region will receive light rain starting from yesterday itself, and the plains of northwest India will also experience light rain from April 18. On April 19, Delhi has been alerted to expect light rain in multiple areas, with heavy rains forecast for April 20 and 21. Consequently, there will likely be a drop in maximum temperatures. UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Punjab will also experience rains on the above mentioned dates.
The national capital, Delhi, is forecast to remain sunny throughout the day. No cloudy sky or change in humidity is likely for the region. For today, the maximum temperature will be 41 degrees and the minimum temperature will be 27 degrees.
Mumbai
As per the latest weather update, the city and its suburbs will be partly overcast during the morning & evening time. Humidity will be at 75% and the afternoon will be sunny. For today, the maximum temperature will be 35 degrees and minimum will be 28 degrees.
Chennai
The latest forecast for Chennai does not predict any new change in weather trends. The day will be sunny with no clouds across the sky. For today, the maximum temperature will be 36 degrees and the minimum temperature will be 26 degrees.
IMD has projected that some clouds might take over the city for today. However, overall, the sky might remain sunny at majority areas. Humidity will be higher today and no change is likely for a couple of day more. For today, the maximum temperature will be 42 degrees and minimum temperature will be 29 degrees.
