Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department predicted an increase in rainfall over South Peninsular India on Sunday for the next 5 days until August 4. The weather department has forecast rainfall over Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry.
In a detailed weather update, the IMD said that widespread, heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is quite likely over Telangana on 3 and 4 August; coastal and north interior Karnataka from 2-4 August; south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Kerala from 31st July – 4th August.
"Isolated extremely heavy rainfall also likely over Kerala & Mahe during 2nd-4th August 2022," the update continued.
For today, the weather department has issued a yellow alert for all the districts of Kerala. For August 1, the weather office has issued an orange alert for Idukki and Kottayam. Meanwhile, for the rest of the districts, a yellow alert has been issued.
Similarly, a heavy rain alert has also been issued for Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Idukki, Kottayam, and Ernakulam on 2nd August.
