Weather Update: India's Heatwave Woes! Monsoon Rainfall Predicted to be Below Average, Drought Likely in the Country

Weather Update: It is anticipated that India will experience lower than average monsoon rainfall this year, with a 20 percent likelihood of drought as a result of the conclusion of La Nina phenomena and the potential impact of El Nino. This projection is worrisome for the agriculture industry after four continuous years of normal or above-normal rainfall during the monsoon period. As the farming sector is highly reliant on monsoon precipitation for crop cultivation, this is a cause for concern.

The forecast agency further anticipated that regions in the north and central areas of the country could experience a shortage of rainfall. Specifically, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra are projected to have insufficient rainfall during the primary monsoon months of July and August. Additionally, the agricultural-dominated areas in the north, including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, are expected to receive below-average rainfall in the latter half of the season. Mumbai

The city and its suburbs will have a mostly clear and sunny today. Some light to moderate cloud cover is projected in the isolated regions during evening. The maximum temperature, for today, will be 36 degrees and minimum will be 28 degrees/

Chennai

IMD has forecast that Chennai will remain sunny today and light winds will continue to blow in the region along with humidity and warmthness. The maximum temperature, for today, will be 33 degrees and minimum will be 26 degrees.

A bright and sunny day is on cards for Kolkata today. IMD has projected that the weather will continue to remain warmer and no relief is likely in the region. For today, the maximum temperature will be 40 degrees and minimum will be 26 degrees.
