Weather update: After a few pleasant days in Delhi in view of the constant downpour, the scorching heat is now taking over northwest India. On Monday, the temperature soared over 40 degrees Celsius in many parts of the country. After early morning rain on Sunday, it was a sunny day in several regions, including Delhi-NCR. The heatwave conditions are likely to prevail over Bihar, east Jharkhand and West Bengal and Sikkim till June 9.
India’s monsoon Delayed
The monsoon onset in India has been delayed over the Southernmost Kerala coast banter two-three days due to the cyclonic circulation in the Arabian Sea. As per Kerala’s IMD, the monsoon rains over the Kerala coast were expected on June 4.
"Westerly winds over the south Arabian Sea continue to prevail up to 2.1 km above mean sea level. However, because of a cyclonic circulation over the southeast Arabian Sea, the cloud mass is more organized and concentrated over the same area and there has been some reduction of clouds off the Kerala coast in the last 24 hours.
"Also, under the influence of this cyclonic circulation, a low-pressure area is very likely to form over the same region during the next 24 hours. It is likely to move nearly northwards and intensify into a depression over the southeast and adjoining east central Arabian Sea during the subsequent 48 hours," the IMD said.
Delhi weather update
Delhi’s maximum temperature is predicted to be around 38 degrees Celsius, as per IMD. The minimum temperature in the city is likely to be 26 degrees Celsius.
Mumbai weather update
Mumbai will have a cloudy day with the maximum temperature predicted to be 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature in the city will be at 29 degrees Celsius.
