WHO Chief Lauds India’s Ayurvedic Heritage at Global Summit in Gujarat, Says ‘India Has Rich History Of Traditional Medicine Through Ayurveda’

Global Summit: Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director general of the World Health Organisation, praised India on Thursday and noted that it had a long history of traditional medicine through Ayurveda, which includes yoga. Yoga has been demonstrated to be useful in reducing pain, according to Ghebreyesus, who was speaking at the WHO Traditional Medicine Global Summit’s opening ceremony in Gandhinagar. “India has a rich history of traditional medicine through Ayurveda including Yoga which has been shown to be effective in alleviating pain,” he said, as quoted by news agency ANI.

Union Minister Mandaviya’s Vision at the Summit

Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of Health, said during his speech at the Summit that the Global Summit will offer a special chance to participate in conversation, share ideas, encourage collaboration, and create global alliances to advance the cause of Traditional and Complementary Medicine.

Mandaviya’s Optimistic Outlook

“I believe this Global Summit will provide a unique opportunity for us, to engage in dialogue, exchange ideas, foster collaboration, and establish international partnerships, to advance the agenda of Traditional and Complementary Medicine and to work together towards promoting and leveraging, the potential of traditional healing practices worldwide,” Mandaviya said.
