World Student’s Day 2022: Know why this day is celebrated on Missile Man, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s birthday

World Student’s Day 2022: In honour of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, a renowned astronautical scientist and former president of India, October 15 is observed as World Students’ Day. The holiday is observed to honour his contributions to education and student success.

On October 15, 1931, Dr. Kalam was born. Many students found him to be an inspiration for success and doing something extraordinary.

Following the conclusion of his term as president, he was hired as a visiting professor at the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) in Shillong, Indore, and Ahmedabad. Till the very end of his life, he made an effort to work for the students.

He suffered a cardiac arrest in July 2015 while giving a lecture at the IIM Shillong and passed away at the age of 83.

Played a key role in India’s Nuclear tests

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was an enthusiastic learner who put forth a lot of effort. Despite having limited funds, he managed to complete his physics degree and go on to study aerospace engineering at the Madras Institute of Technology. As the “Missile Man of India,” he rose to prominence as India’s most well-known nuclear scientist. In 1998’s Pokhran-II nuclear tests, he was a key player. He was known as the “People’s President” for much of his five-year presidency, which spanned from 2002 to 2007.

Dr. Kalam was adored not only for his distinguished career as a scientist but also for his leadership as President and academician. He was raised in a lowly family and wanted to be remembered for his teaching.

Dr. Kalam thought that students were the nation’s future and that their forward-thinking minds could lead the nation to great success. He placed a strong emphasis on instilling fundamental values that one must uphold throughout one’s life and giving students a vision for their own lives. He received numerous honours, including the Ramanujan Award, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan.
